The Process of Creating an Infographic

If you’ve ever created an infographic, you know that the process can be frustrating at best. The research takes forever, the designer doesn’t quite get the concept, and in the end, you have a product that you’re not 100% satisfied with. At Twassistant, we do a lot of infographics for our customers, so I’m going to share with you how we approach the creation process.

The Goal:

Why create this infographic? What good will it do you? What good will it do the people who read it? Brand Guidelines: Some people have well defined brand guidelines, including stylistic elements, colours, fonts, and everything else. If you do, your graphic design assistant will appreciate it. If not, just come up with a few simple guidelines for your designer.

Style Example:

Add a link to an example of the style of infographic that you like. There are a lot of ways to do an infographic, and giving one or two examples can be helpful for your designer.

Title / Theme:

One of the most important elements in your infographic will be the title. Creating a short, descriptive title that catches the eye of your target audience will determine whether or not they actually read your infographic.

Data:

At this point, there’s only one step left: The actual content of your infographic. If you’re working with us, you can choose to send it as-is, and a research assistant will find the content based on the information you’ve already provided. Otherwise, it’s time to put Google to the test and find some relevant statistics and information to illustrate in your infographic.
That’s it! It’s your design assistant’s turn now. The quality of your final infographic will reflect the planning and preparation that you put into it, and you’ll be much more satisfied with the final result.
